the artist.

Malina Shearin aka malimosa is a multi-media artist, classically trained in portraiture with a love for illustration.

My true interests lie in storyboarding, illustrative content, and conceptual development. My main mediums are gouache, oil paint, acrylic paint, charcoal, chalk pastel, and digital. I am most comfortable with digital work, because I’ve spent the majority of my artistic journey working on a screen. I love to create during the wee hours of the night, igniting my passion for dark, spooky themes in my work. I am very inspired by horror movies, creepy stories, and ominous content.

My digital work is best described as crisp and illustrative, ranging from conceptual turnarounds to full color rendering. My style lends itself well to splash art, pin ups, or reference sheets.

My traditional work is rooted more in portraiture, mixing texture and impressionist vision with mixed media. I also enjoy creating more abstract pieces in traditional mediums, where the figure is not the subject of my work. I place great emphasis in the textures I choose, in efforts to create a conversation about emotion. I commonly like to create a feeling of melancholy or looming anticipation.

I have experience in storyboarding projects, character design, illustration, and reference sheet creation. I have a side interest in the world of social media marketing, and have vast knowledge on the use of social media analytics.
